Romance Readers Flock to E-Readers

My dear author friend, Celeste Norfleet, texted me on Friday morning with the news that she'd seen me on the local Channel 9 news. Apparently, the CNN piece had finally aired.

Wow, from a 30 minute interview in CNN's office to what felt like a 2-second blip on the screen, they'd managed to make it sound as if I supported the point of view that romance readers were buying the e-readers to hide the racy romance covers.

What utter bullsh*t!

My feeling is that as a consumer, I am buying the book with MY money for MY enjoyment and I shouldn't have to hide what I'm reading nor should I feel ashamed of what I'm reading. And I'm of the mindset of if you have a problem with what I'm reading then, it's YOUR problem.

We, romance bookaholics, have a voracious appetite for our books. That's the main reason for the increase in E-reader sales, not because of a sudden puritanical trend.

My conclusion to the matter - Enjoy your romance books, however, you choose.

Ditto to everything you said. I certainly don't buy ebooks for my Kindle because I'm embarrassed about the covers. I'm not embarrassed by the covers, nor by the books themselves.

Pffft on the media, not you!
